Assist Yourself First

Over the years I've come to realize developers for the most part are usually busy individuals, so please make sure to come prepared when asking for assistance. This is something I’ve had to learn and in all honesty, still am. I know the initial encounter of a roadblock can be intimidating. Sometimes we even lose hold of our problem-solving fundamentals at its encounter. But remember that every problem has a solution, we just have to find it.

I can only imagine how annoying it would be for someone to ask for assistance without trying to find a solution. So here are some things you could do or ask yourself before reaching out for help.

  • Have a solid understanding of the issue at hand
  • Make notes of the actions you’ve taken to solve the issue
  • Have you asked Google?
  • Ask yourself if you’ve encountered this problem on a previous project
